Hi.

I’m Jesse Hollar – a fantasy novelist and horror screenwriter from British Columbia, Canada. I write mystical, unconventional stories with themes of high mystery, dark magick and strange anomalies.

Raised on Tolkien-scale wonder (and yes, the dragon itch that never really leaves), I’ve been building my own fantasy world, a shadowed planet called Tao Luxe full of uncanny characters and unlikely creatures, which I am putting the majority of my creative energy towards crafting and refining interesting stories within.

Almost nothing can be created without using some of that which came before. While aware of this fact, I hope to create works as original and innovative, and intriguing, as possible. As a seasoned reader of fantasy literature since childhood, the writings and the worlds that came before were foundational to my understanding of the possible scope and scale of legends and stories and the arc of the many characters intertwined (intermingled) betwixt the pages. In everything I write, I hope my admiration and passion for the earlier works (as well as the modern) and source materials in the genre shine through.

When I’m not getting lost down the rabbit hole of writing my fantasy novels, I am probably working on my screenplays which are primarily in the horror genre. I’m a lifelong movie-goer, especially enjoying a dark theatre, and a I want to write and produce the kind of films I’d actually buy a ticket for: tense, strange, and worth watching.
